Motivation, Support, and Success
Achieving Your Fitness Goals
It’s important to remind yourself the “why” as well as the “what” any time you’re setting a new goal, breaking a habit, or making a change in your life. Your “why” is one of the most important things that’ll keep you going when the excuses or hesitations rear their head. Think about one goal that is really important to you right now. Write down your “why” for reaching that goal.
If your goal is to increase your endurance, overall health, mobility and wellness, let's get connected, we can achieve your fitness goal together.
Unsure of your love for running?!
Aside from decreasing your risk of heart disease, burning calories, and relieving stress, it can also boost your confidence, help you sleep better and rev up your memory and learning. So the next time you need to be convinced to get on those running shoes ( your step tracker, headphones and evening running safety lights), just think about how it can benefit your life!
Stretching and Flexibility
A great time to add some flexibility and foam rolling to your daily routine is an hour or two before bed – just as you’re winding down for the day. Take 10 to 15 minutes and do some stretches and easy yoga poses while you’re watching TV, listening to music or an audiobook. It’ll help you release stress, find balance and generally feel more relaxed!
Your body will thank you by feeling more relaxed and limber.
Hydration
Staying hydrated is important for your health and endurance goals. As a starting point, aim to drink 0.5 fl. oz. of water per pound of body weight and adjust to fit your individual needs. High quality H20 doesn’t have to be ordinary. Try filling a bottle with water and add your favorite fruit like lemon, strawberries, or even cantaloupe! It can add a wonderful flavor to your water and make drinking a lot more fun. Drink it slightly cool instead of cold and it will go down easier.
How do you know when it's time to replace your running shoes?
Most shoe companies recommend changing your shoes at least every 6 months or 250-500 miles (whichever comes first). I tend to lean towards the high end and have even gone up to 800-1000 miles in a pair of shoes. Pay attention to your body (ankles and knees especially) and your shoes (start falling apart or wearing through the sole) and they will let you know when they need to be replaced!
When you go to a running shoe store to buy new running shoes, bring the shoes that you are currently with you to the store. Believe it or not this is much more helpful to the sales associate than bringing in a random pair of sandals or cute boots.
